The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced a nationwide class suspension from October 27 to 30, granting both students and teachers a “wellness break” amid the ongoing flu outbreak and consecutive storms affecting the country.
According to DepEd, the short academic pause aims to help learners and educators recover from physical and mental fatigue brought by recent disruptions in classes due to severe weather conditions and rising cases of influenza-like illnesses.
Schools are encouraged to use the break to disinfect classrooms, ensure safety measures, and prepare for the resumption of classes on October 31.
DepEd also reminded parents and students to use this time for rest, self-care, and family bonding, emphasizing that academic performance improves when learners are healthy and well-rested.
The department continues to coordinate with local government units and the Department of Health to monitor weather and health developments in the coming days.
📚🌧️ Stay safe and take your well-deserved wellness break!
